Cycling in Friesland
The perfect combination: sailing and cycling
Friesland is a green, wetland area were you can explore a lot by boat. The distance between several destinations is relatively short, which makes it easy to reach a lot of different locations during your sailing holiday. From town to city and from National Park to a harbour. Cycling in Friesland is absolutely nice to do. Once you have reached your destination, you can visit the environment by foot, but you can also choose to discover the environment on a typically Dutch activity; by bike. It is easy and fast to do for example some grocery shopping by bike. But you can also use the bike to explore the beautiful nature in Friesland. Eernewoude – Grou – Wartena – Eernewoude : 25,8 km
One of the most beautifull nature reserves in Holland is National Park De Alde Feanen. This wetland area is perfect for sailing, canoeing, fishing and cycling. The area is easily accessible by boat, but if you berth on one of the many Marrekrite locations you can go further by bike. This route starts at Hotel Restaurant Princenhof in Eernewoude and leads you towards Grou and Wartena. 2. Slotermeer Tour
Balk – Woudsend – Tjerkgaast – Sloten – Balk: 30,4 km
This tour can be started from Balk, at Paviljoen Badmeester Keimpe or Marina De Rakken in Woudsend. Have a different view at the Slotermeer, because you cycle around this lake. This route also leads you through Sloten, the smallest city from Friesland. This fortified city is absolutely worthwhile to visit. Visit the Museum Stedhûs Sleat that shows in a special way the history of the city Sloten. 3. Around the Sneekermeer
Sneek – Uitwellingerga – Broek – Goingarijp – Terhorne – Sneek: 37,2 km
This route gives you a different view at the Sneekermeer. In the summer months you can taste the positive atmosphere at- and around the Sneekermeer. A lot of watersport enthusiasts are active in this area. Make a cycling tour around this active lake and enjoy the beauty of nature, cycle literally between the sheaps and stop by at some nice terraces. Check out the tour around the Sneekermeer.

Bikes are easy to take with you on board. We have good city bikes suitable for both men and women. Therefore, you can easily rent the amount of bikes you need and we will make sure that the bikes are placed on board of your yacht.
