A Marrekrite is a FREE mooring spot that can be found throughout Friesland. Moor at one of the 400 different Marrekrite locations across the province. Some Marrekrite spots are situated in the most beautiful and unique places that cannot be reached by foot or by car. For example, the Marrekrite “Langehoekspolle,” located on a small island in the middle of the Heegermeer, or the “Marchjepôlle” on the Tjeukemeer. Marrekrite
Are you already familiar with Marrekrite? The Marrekrite Recreational Board has been dedicated to recreation on Frisian waters and land for more than 60 years. They create mooring facilities on and around the water where you, as a visitor by boat, can moor for up to 3 days FREE of charge. This allows you to fully enjoy everything Friesland has to offer. On the Marrekrite website, you will find a map showing all mooring locations. The map also provides detailed information about each spot, such as whether there is a waste container, whether there is access to the mainland, and whether you can enjoy a scenic cycling or walking route nearby. Are there children on board who would enjoy spending a night camping ashore? At some Marrekrite locations, camping is even permitted!
Marrekrite Mooring Facilities
In Friesland, you will find more than 700 Marrekrite mooring facilities spread across 400 different locations. Most berths are located alongside dedicated Marrekrite jetties or quay walls. In addition, there are around 100 mooring buoys on Frisian waters, known as MarBoeien. Secure your boat to a floating MarBoei and gently drift along the edges of the Frisian lakes. Ideal if you would like to go for a swim or cast a line for fishing. At the jetty and quay wall locations, you will also find waste containers so that all visitors can help keep the Marrekrite sites clean and tidy. Please note: there is NO electricity supply at Marrekrite mooring locations.
