A big advantage of boating in the winter season  is the peace and quiet. In the summer it is often busy on the water and it can be difficult to find a mooring place to stay overnight. If you think that you are the only person on the water, then you are wrong. Also the Frisian citizens enjoy the water sports in the winter. Bridges and locks are also in operation during the winter period, so that you can sail multiple routes.  And in the winter you can also enjoy beautiful panoramas over the Frisian waters. Impression 1400 ‘Drait 60’ 

This large boat has a maximum capacity of 12 people, with no less than 7 cabins and 2 bathrooms and toilets. This boat is ideal if you want to spend a few pleasant days on the water with your friends or family. Moreover, this boat is equiped with a generator.

Impression 1280 ‘Drait 73’

Just like the Drait Impression 1400, the Drait Impression 1280, also has a capacity of 12 people with 6 cabins and 2 bathrooms and toilets. This boat has a generator as well.

Renal 50 Pilot ‘Drait 34’

This boat has no tent but a covered steering position. This means you are always comfortable without the influence of the weather outside. That is why it is also great to stay in cold temperatures with our Renal 50 Pilot, which is suitable for up to 12 people (5 cabins).

Deluxe 42 ‘Drait 100’

Our Deluxe 42 ‘Drait 100’ is a well-known boat from our location in Brandenburg. But in the winter period it is possible to rent this boat from our location in Drachten. With place for 8+2 persons, 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets, this boat is fully equipped for your family or group of friends.

Classicline 1300 ‘Drait 39’

Because this 6-person boat with 3 cabins also has a generator on board, you are even less dependent on shore power and you are always provided with power on the road. Ideal for a winter boat trip with your family or relatives.

Woudsend

Deluxe 42 ‘Drait 116’

This stylish boat is robust and therefore very stable on the water. The Drait 116 offers space for 8+2 persons with 4 cabins and is fully equipped with everything you need.

Kotterjacht 13.5 ‘Ryanne’ 

This cutter yacht has a capacity for 8 people. The boat is spaciously laid out and offers enough space for 8 people. In the front you will find a bathroom and toilet in one and in the back a separate toilet and a separate bathroom.

Kotterjacht 12.2 ‘Michelle’

This Kotterjacht is perfect for a sailing holiday with 2 or 4 people. The boat is spacious and very comfortable. And the boat even has 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets.

Bravoure 34 ‘Drait 82’

This boat has a spacious bedroom in the front and a bedroom under the steering position, making the boat suitable for 2+2 persons. Also on the Bravoure 34 you will find a shower and toilet and the boat is fully equipped with a kitchen and a spacious saloon.

Bridges and locks

From the 1st of November a large number of bridges will be operated remotely. You can register for the operation through the Watersport App. But in most cases the bridge operator sees the boat coming in the cameras and then you see that the bridge will be operated soon. Also a lot of bridges and locks in Friesland will be operated on demand. To ensure bridge operation you can call 2 hours in advance to ask for a bridge operation on a desired time. There are also bridges with a clearance height that is large enough for our motor boats withouth the bridge having to be operated. For example, the bridges that you encounter on the Prinses Magrietkanaal. But beware: bridges are only operated from Monday to Saturday. On Sunday most bridges aren’t operated. Routes

In the map below you will find some routes that you can sail in the winter. Both our marinas in Drachten and Woudsend are open this winter. From these locations you can easily discover the Frisian waters, even without the need for bridge operation. The bridges that are operated on demand can be recognized on this map by the orange logo and the bridges that are centrally operated or can be operated with the Watersport App can be recognized by the green logo. You will also find an overview of activities on the map below and which marinas are open during the winter period (blue anchor) and where you can possibly moor without facilities (orange anchor).

Conditions for winter sailing:
*The winter discount can be combined with other current promotions, such as the early booking discount and the repeat discount;
*The booking is subject to weather conditions. In case of frost, you can also choose not to sail with the boat;
*In case of persistent frost, we offer the rebooking guarantee so that you can rebook free of charge to another period in the winter months (until 31 March) or the paid rental amount can be settled as a deposit for a new booking in another period in the year 2025;
*Refund of the deposit is not possible in case of cancellation.
*The discount is not valid on a request for overnight stays on a Houseboat or motor yacht.
